Four M1 locomotives have been marked for scrapping from the Ratmalana Yard by the SLR. The current state of the locos or the locomotive numbers are not known yet. Two locomotives have already been cut. The General Manager of Railways Sri Lanka has promised to delay the scrapping of the other two M1`s if any interested individuals or group comes forward to acquire them.
 
We need your support to save these locos from permanent extinction. We are grateful If you can contribute by writing a petition to GMR railways or the Ministry of Transport to halt the destruction of these two locos. Worst case we are trying to remove much of the valuable parts from the remaining two locomotives before scrapping to be used for the #560 locomotive.
